How do we write responsibly, ethically, and effectively in a world where the technologies we use to communicate change even faster than we can learn them? This is the overarching question this course seeks to answer.

This course will provide students with relevant theoretical and practical knowledge to think strategically about writing in digital and/or online contexts. This writing is necessarily multimodal because it involves the rhetorical use of text, images, color, sound, and video in a variety of genres. Students do not need any prior expertise in coding or website production to take this class, nor will this class make them experts in coding or website production. Rather, students will learn how to make the most rhetorically effective use of online resources that are available to anyone with a computer and an Internet connection.
